Overton's One Act Play gave an outstanding performance in their UIL district competition at Panola College on Tuesday, March 19th. So good in fact, that it catapulted them into the next round. Rehearsals for the Bi-District round of competition will be Tuesday with performances to be this Wednesday, March 27th. The Bi-district round will also be hosted at Panola College.

For their performance this year, the Mustangs have chosen the one act version of "Antigone in Munich, the Sophie Scholl Story". Sophie Scholl was a member of the White Rose Society in Nazi Germany which encouraged passive resistance against the totalitarian government. Antigone in Munich chronicles Sophie's coming of age and development from bystander to witness to activist -- inspired by Sophocles' Greek tragedy Antigone which asks “What do you do when the laws of man contradict the laws of God?”

Congrats to the entire cast and their sponsor, Patricia Jackson on an outstanding adaptation and brilliant delivery. Special congratulations to our Mustang thespians receiving individual recognition at the district level. They include: Honor Crew-Janice McPherson, Honorable Mention All-star Cast Members-Coltin Mott-Hayes, Joshua Cota, and Ella Walton, and All-star Cast Member-Lily Blake.
