Josh Brown with picnic tables

Josh Brown, Mustang class of 2024, recently achieved the rank of eagle scout. This is no small accomplishment. According to their website, Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Scouts BSA program. Since its inception in 1911, only four percent of Scouts have earned this rank. The Eagle Scout rank is a lifelong achievement that is recognized as a mark of distinction, both within and outside of Scouting. It is respected by college, business, military, and community service leaders. Many universities give a high preference to Eagle Scouts when making college admissions decisions.

Overton ISD is proud of Josh's achievement, and also grateful to be the beneficiary of one of the projects he completed enroute to earning this prestigious rank. The next time you visit Chester Roy Stadium (We hope you'll take that opportunity at homecoming on Sep 20th), check out the Wall of Honor area at the east end of the home stands. This area now boasts 3 new picnic tables that were designed, built and installed by our own, Josh Brown. Fans can enjoy sitting and having food and refreshment while watching the game and/or admiring the wall with individual brick plaques that honor Mustangs that have achieved state level recognition in a variety of activities.

Congratulations to Josh Brown on his outstanding achievement, and a big thank you for thinking of Overton ISD and benefiting our district in the process. It's a Great Day to be a MUSTANG!
