Overton ISD is proud to welcome Kelsey Stokes as our new District Nurse!

Kelsey brings over 14 years of nursing experience, including extensive work in maternal, newborn, and pediatric care. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a passion for helping others, strong clinical expertise, and the ability to respond with confidence and care in critical situations.

Her experience includes supporting patients and families, managing a wide range of health needs—including asthma, diabetes, and seizure disorders—and working collaboratively with healthcare teams to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Beyond her professional experience, Kelsey is already part of the Mustang family—her children attend Overton ISD, and we are excited to have her and her family even more connected to our school.

We are confident that Nurse Stokes will be a tremendous asset to our students, staff, and community by helping ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all.

We love seeing our students step up and lead! 👏 A big shoutout to our Mustang Ambassadors — Kyra Parker, Caleb Cota, and Jolie Richardson — for doing an outstanding job presenting to our Overton ISD Safety & Security Committee. These students shared their vision for bringing Staying Safe to our district, a program designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to respond confidently in emergency and unsafe situations. Their presentation was thoughtful, well-prepared, and a great example of student leadership in action. We are proud of the way they represented Overton ISD and contributed to important conversations about keeping our schools safe. 💚 It’s a Great Day to be a Mustang! 🐎 #MustangNation

Both Mrs. Mosley and Mr. Dahlgren go above and beyond to support our students, staff, and community. Their impact is felt in classrooms, hallways, and throughout Mustang Nation every single day. Thank you for your leadership, your passion, and your unwavering commitment to Overton ISD!

Overton ISD Closure – Wednesday, April 1

Due to a predicted water outage needed to repair damaged pipes, Overton ISD will be closed on Wednesday, April 1. Classes will resume as normal on Thursday, April 2.

This closure is necessary due to the impact a water outage would have on basic operations, particularly in meeting the bathroom and hygiene needs of our youngest students, as well as our ability to safely prepare meals for all students.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. We are grateful to the City of Overton for their hard work in addressing this issue and for providing advance notice, which allowed us to plan accordingly.

Mustang Welders Make Debut at Dragon Classic Build-Off

We are proud to recognize four of our outstanding Overton ISD Ag Mechanics/Welding students—Brayden Spiecher, Mason McMillan, Aiden Self, and Carter Smith—for representing our district at the Dragon Classic Build-Off welding competition hosted by Nacogdoches High School!

This competition challenged teams to collaborate on a 4-man table fabrication project, putting their skills, precision, and teamwork to the test. For Brayden, Mason, Aiden, and Carter, this marked their very first welding competition—and they rose to the occasion with determination and pride.

While this may have been their first time competing, it certainly won’t be their last. These young men are already looking forward to future competitions and continuing to grow in their craft.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work, willingness to step out of their comfort zone, and the way they represented Overton ISD. The future is bright for our welding program—and it’s a great day to be a Mustang!

📅 Important Calendar Update – Friday, February 6

Due to our recent weather-related school closure, Overton ISD must make up two regular attendance days to meet TEA instructional minute requirements. Our goal is to make up these days during the school year on previously non-attendance days, rather than extending the school year.

As a result, this coming Friday, February 6, will be a regular, full attendance school day for all students, with normal start and end times.

  • 🚌 All bus routes will run as normal

  • 🍽️ Breakfast and lunch will be served as on any regular school day

  • 📚 This is a regular school day in all respects, with full instruction and attendance taken

The second make-up day will be Friday, May 1, which was previously designated as a flex day. More reminders will be shared as that date approaches.

Thank you for your continued flexibility and support as we work to keep our calendar on track and avoid extending the school year. It’s a great day to be a Mustang! 💚🐎
