Dear Mustang Nation: As you may have seen on other social media posts, one of our own was in a serious accident last night. He will be undergoing surgery today. Please lift him, his medical team and his family up in your prayers. 💚

Attention Mustang Fans:
The basketball games originally scheduled for Tuesday, Jan 16th are now rescheduled for tomorrow, Thursday January 18th. JV boys 5:00pm, Varsity Girls 6:00pm and Varsity Boys 7:30pm. The new date/times are also reflected in our online Athletics Schedule

Reminder - Both Thursday, January 18th and Friday, January 19th are regular school days and regular school hours. Classes begin at 7:40am.

Overton ISD will have a 10:30AM delayed start on Wednesday, January 17th for all OISD campuses and offices. School buses will run their morning routes 3-hours later than normal. The Sun has helped with radiant heat melt much of the ice on the roads, but in shaded areas there are still some icy patches. Please use caution as you get out and about. With the morning sun and rising temperatures we expect a good day, and look forward to having our students back in the classroom.

Due to the icy road conditions and the continued below freezing temperatures, all Overton ISD campuses will be closed on Tuesday, January 16th. There are no Overton ISD classes or Northeast Texas Career and Technology Center classes on Tuesday. The HS basketball games vs. New Summerfield are postponed until Wednesday January 17th at New Summerfield. Specific game times and details to be announced. Stay safe and stay warm.

Overton ISD will be closed Monday, January 15th in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - the great civil rights leader born on January 15, 1929. His voice still echoes, his dream continues to inspire, and his words and wisdom remain ever relevant. Thank you for your example, your leadership and your message.

Just a reminder that the safety of our students is extremely important to us at OISD and we know it is to you as well. Please make sure if you are in our car line unloading or loading that you are aware of when the buses have their stop arm extended and red lights flashing. OISD has had multiple instances where a driver is going around the bus as they are unloading in the morning. We want to make sure every student is safe at all times and would appreciate your help in this as well. Thank you.

Attention Mustang Fans:
All-American Cheerleader and Mascot, Mason Fenter and Colton Mott-Hayes are representing the Mustangs at the Citrus Bowl Today. The game is being broadcast live right now, and they will be back on the field at the half. Congrats to both on their All-American selection and the opportunity to perform on the national stage at the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida. Great Job!

MUSTANG NATION - Sending you warm wishes for a year filled with love and joy. May the coming year be your best one yet, with lots of good friends, great adventures, laughter, mini miracles, major joys and success! We're so thankful for each and every one of you! Happy New Year!!!

Reminder The OISD student parking lot is temporarily closed for resealing and repainting. It will probably remain closed through the weekend. Although, we will open it sooner if ready. The gate at McKay Street/135 is locked, and an OISD vehicle is blocking the lot from the sixth grade building. All traffic to the secondary campus during this time will need to enter and exit at Henderson Street. Please pass this information onto others who may be visiting the campus this week. Thank you.

Overton Head Football Coach, Scotty Laymance is up for Coach of the Year presented by the Texas Army National Guard! Spread the word to Mustang Fans Everywhere! Voting is open and unlimited through December 29th. https://www.texasfootball.com/coach-of-the-year/form

After a fun day of Polar Express and pajama day some of our teachers and students headed to Walmart in their pajamas. They had a great time shopping for our Christmas Star Students.
We would like to thank our donors for this opportunity to bless some of our local families ?
